Satyoraism
A philosophy for ethical living in an imperfect world—built around Awareness, choice, impact and the possibility of Return.
Living in Alignment
Satyoraism begins with the recognition that people are imperfect. Circumstances change. Emotions influence us. We act with incomplete information, misunderstand one another and sometimes make choices we later reconsider.
Alignment therefore is not a permanent state and it does not require perfection. It can be experienced when there is coherence between what we understand to be true and the decision we have made. Misalignment is not automatically failure; it is the recognition that something may need our attention.
The One Cycle
Pause → Notice → Return
The Pause creates intentional space between experience and response. The Notice is the recognition that something may need our attention. The Return is the conscious choice to respond to what we have Noticed and move forward with greater understanding.
Return may involve reconsidering, changing, accepting, repairing where needed, or simply beginning again. It does not guarantee Alignment. It represents willingness.
The Two Experiences
Alignment and Misalignment are temporary human experiences. Neither defines us, and not every moment must belong to one or the other. Sometimes, there is simply life between the two.
The Three Domains
Self is the Domain over which we hold the most direct influence. Others includes people and animals beyond ourselves who may influence, or be influenced by, our choices. Environment includes the spaces, systems and living world that we inhabit, influence and are influenced by.
The Domains are not a hierarchy and they are not a checklist. They are a lens for considering what is meaningfully involved.
The Four Foundations
Awareness recognises what is happening within and around us. Authenticity asks us to be honest about what we understand, feel, value and intend. Compassion considers the experiences, needs and dignity of Self and Others with care. Responsibility acknowledges our choices and their reasonably recognisable impact.
A living philosophy
Satyoraism does not provide a formula that guarantees a perfect answer. It offers a structure through which we can examine what we understand, consider what may be affected and decide how we wish to respond.
